Osotimehin's death came as a rude shock, a big loss to us all - Aisha Buhari

The wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, has expressed shock over the demise of Babatunde Osotimehin, the Executive Director, United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA).

The President's wife who sent a condolence message through her tweeter handle on Monday, said that the news of Osotimehin’s death came as a rude shock.

She, therefore, prayed almighty God to grant the family and UNFPA the fortitude to bear the loss.

“The news of his death came as a rude shock and his passing away is a great loss to us all.

“Myself and the Future Assured team mourn his demise, he will indeed be greatly missed.

“I pray Almighty God to grant his family, the UNFPA the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.

Osotimehin was born on February 6, 1949 in Ogun state and graduated from University of Ibadan.

He was appointed as the Executive Director of UNFPA on December 19, 2010 after serving as the Federal Minister of Health.

He had previously served as the Director-General, National Action Committee Against Aids (NACA) in Nigeria.
