Babangida unites political enemies at daughter's wedding in Minna
Politics according to a popular saying is all about permanent interest. Thus political enemies who threaten at daytime to kill each other, are seen at night dining and wining together.
And so it was as prominent Nigerian politicians and political office holders of various political divide on Friday gathered together in Minna, the Niger state capital to attend the wedding of the daughter of former Military President, Ibrahimm Babangida.
The state was practically shut down for the event as twenty six private jets and four police and air force aircraft which brought in the dignitaries landed in Minna. The police also provided air surveillance and security.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife Patience, Senate President Bukola Saraki and former Vice President Namadi Sambo were at the wedding.
Others include Governors Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara, Ahmed Abdulfatah of Kwara and Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano.
One of APC National Leaders, Bola Tinubu, Aliyu Wamakko, Josephine Anenih and former Niger Governor, Babangida Aliyu, were among the many personalities who witnessed the short ceremony at the Hilltop home of Babangida.
Also in attendance were former Secretary of the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim Pius, former Chief Justice of the Federation, Idris Kutigi, Ahmed Yayale, also a former SGF, Muhammed Magoro, Ben Obi, Ben Bruce, Ibrahim Haruna and Sani Zangon Daura.
Aliyu Gusau, who served several times as National Security Adviser, Okwezili Nwodo, former PDP National Secretary also came.
Business moguls Aliko Dangote and Tony Elemulu, as well as members of the Federal Executive Councils including Ministers of Interior, Abdulrahman Danbazzau and Defence Mansur Dan-Ali as well as Minister of state for Solid Mineral Development, Abubakar Bwari also graced the event.
Halima, the last child of the family married a Gombe businessman, Auwal Abdullahi.
Garba Wushishi performed the symbolic ceremony of handing over Halimat in marriage to Abdullahi while Governor Ibrahim Dankwanbo of Gombe state received the bride on behalf of the groom, who hails from the state.
