A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC and Ekiti Governorship hopeful, Opeyemi Bamidele, has commended Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo for stabilising the polity in the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He commended Osinbajo for placing high premium on the country's economy above divisive tendencies.
President Buhari is presently in London to seek medical treatment over yet to be disclosed ailment leaving Osinbajo as Acting President.
Bamidele spoke in a statement signed and made available to journalists by his Media Aide, Ahmed Salami in Ado Ekiti on Monday.
The APC Chieftain said that the leadership role being played by Osinbajo since Buhari departed for London, has gone a long way in promoting the unity of the country.
“Records have shown that a lot of Nigerian politicians are opportunists looking for available vacuum to grab power. But Acting President Osinbajo has displayed uncommon statesmanship. He has exhibited those sterling qualities that have promoted the values of unity and patriotism expected of a leader in a diverse country like Nigeria.
“The Acting President has shown that the entity called Nigeria towers above other sentiments. Though President Buhari might be sick, but there was no vacuum in the Presidency and the governance has not sufferedâ€, he said.
Bamidele explained that the two year period of Buhari administration has been of tremendous benefits to the country, taking cognisance of the milestone the nation has recorded in the war against corruption and insurgency.
