Speak now on your indictment by Tinubu over Lagos debt burden, PDP tells Fashola

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos has called on the state House of Assembly to probe the debt profile of previous administrations in the state.

The party also gave the immediate past governor of the state who is the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola seven days within which to confirm or debunk allegations that his administration left the state with monumental debt burden.

The party  insisted that Fashola must do this to show responsibility to Lagosians.

“He may also go further to also let us know how much debt he also inherited if any.”

The PDP made this known in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Taofik Gani.

“The Lagos State House of Assembly must immediately constitute a committee to look into the disclosure and at the same time demand that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode should furnish it with facts and figures to confirm or debunk the allegation. The governor must make a declaration of the debt burden he inherited from the past administration.”

The party hinged its argument on the disclosure by former governor of the state, Bola Tinubu, that Ambode inherited huge debt burden but is still carrying out developmental projects.

“Whilst we shall look into and demand the actual report of service of Ambode, it is expedient at this time to voice out on behalf of Lagosians that Fashola must answer to this indictment of his administration.

“The silence of Fashola since this assertion Tinubu has indeed also vindicated us, as we had persistently maintained that Fashola’s government was extortionate and propagandists.

“That in spite realising average of N23 billion monthly IGR, local and foreign loans, domestic and international donations, his assumed achievements in security, beautification, schools renovation, roads etc were actually the making of individuals, corporate bodies, federal government, concessionaires and international organisations.”

The Lagos PDP said any further delay in probing Fashola’s wastages as governor will result in Ambode being named as accessory after the fact.
