Those accusing us of making Modu-Sheriff PDP Chairman were part of it - Wike

Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike has described the victory of the Ahmed Markafi-led Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the Supreme Court as a win for the state as it built all its hope around the party.

Speaking at an interdenominational thanksgiving service at the Ecumenical Centre in Port Harcourt, Nwike said only Rivers state did not have what he termed ‘Plan B,’ stressing that God gave the party victory at the apex court because of the state.

“God saved PDP because of Rivers. We are the only state without Plan B,” he said.

Wike described the victory at the Supreme Court as a sweet experience and said God will continue to shame his political opponents. According to him, they had to cancel their planned party in Port Harcourt since the judgment did not go the way they expected.

He recalled that when the Appeal Court gave victory against Markafi, his opponents rejoiced because they said the only party he had his hopes on, was near collapse.

Wike enjoined members of his party to remain vigilant, stressing that the members of the opposition party would not want to relent in their effort to destroy the PDP.

“You must be vigilant. Nobody can take me unaware,” he said.

He said that the new entrants into the party would be treated equally with old members, adding that the Supreme Court verdict was a victory for democracy.

He said it was unfortunate that some persons chose to blame him and a few others for the emergence of Modu-Sheriff then as Chairman, stressing that most of them should have been fair enough to say they were part of the meeting where the decision was taken.
